Seven years after their divorce, Rena Sofer and Sanford Bookstaver have once again said “I do!”

The General Hospital star, 55, and Bookstaver, 50, tied the knot over the weekend on what would have been their 21st wedding anniversary.

“I got to Re-Marry my best friend @sbookstaver once again! The journey we are about to begin is the most exciting adventure, in a new state and town, but most thrilling is that we get to do it together as husband and wife,” announced Sofer in a Monday, May 20 Instagram post.

Sofer and Bookstaver first wed in 2003. They welcomed their first daughter, Avalon, in August 2005. The actress is also a mom to daughter Rosabel Rosalind Kurth with ex-husband Wallace Kurth.

After her and Bookstaver’s 2017 divorce, the soap opera actress announced that they had reconciled and were engaged in April 2019.

In her wedding announcement on Monday, Sofer said that she and the director/producer’s time apart was “humbling and heartbreaking,” adding that it was “vital to us finding each other again.”

“The love I have for you now is the foundation of my life. I can’t imagine another moment NOT walking through life with you hand in hand and our hearts entwined. You are the love of my life, and it’s not “oops we did it again” but I’m so grateful we did it again!❤️❤️❤️.” wrote Sofer.

The post began with a sweet photo of Sofer smiling from ear to ear as she held on to a white floral bouquet while being embraced by Bookstaver. The second photo showed Sofer resting her head on Bookstaver’s shoulder as she gently grabbed onto his arm.

Sofer dressed in all white, and Bookstaver wore a classic black suit for the occasion. The comment section was filled with support from friends like Krysten Ritter, who wrote, “I love this so much ❤️.” Katrina Bowden wrote, “Congrats you two ❤️ you are perfect for each other.” Hilarie Burton commented, “Congratulations!!!”

Bookstaver also shared the news on his Instagram, noting that the two “came back together stronger than ever.”

“We were divorced for a few years, spent time apart working on ourselves, and then came back together stronger than ever. I remarried my best friend and soulmate again,” Bookstaver wrote.

“Life with you has never been better, and I’m the luckiest man alive to get to spend the rest of my life with you @rena.sofer Here’s the a brand new lifetime together and to all@of our new adventures. I love you more than anything in the world,” he continued.

Today is Rena’s birthday! Happy birthday!

There will be some changes taking place behind the scenes of the site. Unfortunately, those changes might affect both galleries currently at the site. I am thinking hard about switching versions of PHP to be able to update WP. That means that I will have to use the current version of Coppermine, which has an uploading feature that I’m not too fond of. So the galleries will have to be switched over and started over again. It’s a process that I don’t want to do but I might have to. Ugh!

I will keep you all posted on the changes as they take place.

General Hospital fans can expect a familiar face returning to Port Charles next month.

Rena Sofer — the 54-year-old actress who won an Daytime Emmy for playing Lois Cerullo, the effervescent, fast-talking, long fingernail wearing, Italian bella donna with the thick Brooklyn accent — is returning to the beloved ABC soap opera after a 26 year absence, the network has confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE.

It’s a big treat for viewers, who will remember Lois as one-half of one of the soap world’s most popular supercouples of the ’90s, alongside Wally Kurth’s Ned Ashton. The character was played by Daytime Emmy winner Lesli Kay from 2005 to 2005.

Sofer, who taped her first scenes this week, will be on-air come October.

Lois’ reappearance comes at a time when Ned, her ex-husband, is suffering from amnesia — which is nothing but bad news for his current wife, Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), especially since he thinks he’s Eddie Maine, Ned’s alter ego who was a leather-loving rock star (literally) 30 years ago. Back in 1993, Lois immediately took a liking to Eddie after seeing him perform with his band, The Idle Rich. She went on to work as his manager, not knowing at the time that Eddie was actually the wealthy Ned Ashton by day and Eddie by night.

The two eventually fell in love and got married. But being a soap opera and all, the happily ever after was just a blip on the screen because he was also forced to wed Katherine Bell (Mary Beth Evans), who was blackmailing Ned’s family, the Quartermaines.

After finding out that her Eddie was a bigamist, Lois popped out of Katherine’s giant birthday cake and greeted her with “Happy Birthday to Mrs. Ned Ashton, from the other Mrs. Ned Ashton!” And that was the end of Lois and Ned’s marriage, at least for a little while.

Ned did everything in his power to win Lois back, and he eventually succeeded. He proposed, she said yes, and they got married. But they hit a rough patch when she gave him an ultimatum — their marriage or his loyalty to his family and its business, ELQ — and he chose the family business.

Lois left town in 1997with a broken heart and headed back to her hometown of Bensonhurst, New York, where she gave birth to their daughter, Brook Lynn (currently played by Amanda Setton).

Soap fans began to speculate — or maybe it was just wishful thinking — that Sofer would return to GH when she left her role as Quinn Fuller on The Bold and the Beautiful after nine years. The actress — who off-camera, shares a daughter with Kurth, whom she was married to from 1995 to 1997 — has also had memorable roles on Melrose Place, Seinfeld and Two and a Half Men.

Lois’ presence could turn both Olivia and the Quatermaine family’s worlds upside-down depending on how Ned/Eddie reacts when he sees her.

Will Lois just pop into town to check on her daughter and then pop right out? Or is there more to her stay? Will the amnesiac Ned think that he is still married to — and therefore, still in love with — Lois, leaving Olivia outta luck? ABC is remaining tight-lipped about the upcoming storyline.
